CLASSIFICATION I – JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER Rate of Pay: Master Agreement - $28.
84/hour; additional $2.
50 with specialized licenses or journeyman card.
MAJOR QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications are required to be considered for this position unless otherwise stated.
Must possess a High School diploma or certified GED, be able to read/write English and have a good knowledge of mathematics.
Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (no moving violations within the last three years) Must possess a valid Journeyman's card and/or certification license required in residential/industrial Plumbing.
Five years of documented plumber experience is preferred.
A basic understanding of various trades to assist with maintaining facilities safely and in good order.
Ability to assist all trades with preventative maintenance on building-related equipment.
Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and architect/engineer specifications including rough drawings as needed.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade.
Ability to work in multiple school buildings and coordinate various projects as they are identified.
Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted.
Must be capable of keeping records of sources for materials, parts, and supplies for all equipment and vehicles and be knowledgeable about the proper inventory of in-stock parts, supplies, and materials.
Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in all buildings while using all required tools necessary to perform the work.
Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals as needed.
Respond to, diagnose, and resolve all plumbing emergencies.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must be willing to abide by the safety regulations and wear protective safety equipment as may be required.
Must meet all other job qualifications and obtain all certifications as adopted and published by Monroe Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Carry - 50/80 lbs.

Climb - ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, to a height of 40 ft.
, entering vehicles/equipment.
Crawl - utilizing hands, knees, and feet, to access needs in confined areas, tunnels, pits, sumps, etc.
Crouch/Kneel - to access/repair needs at levels below the waist, tunnels, sumps, pits, etc.
Fingers/Gripping - lifting, grasping hand tools, sawing, inserting/turning bolts, screws, etc.
Lift - 80#/50 ft.
for objects tools, supplies, and materials to desired levels, unload/load vehicles.
Pulling/Pushing - for positioning of; materials, supplies, tools, pulling wire, motors, and auger.
Reach - extending hands and arms to heights, distances to service; repair machinery, and supplies.
Sight - clarity of vision to pass the driver's license test, and adequate vision to distinguish objects, relative space, and distance.
Sit-rest on haunches to service; bench work, service floor drains, working under mowers, etc.
Stand/Stoop - to reach desired heights to repair/service equipment, and obtain tools, equipment, and diagnostics.
Hear - for testing equipment, safety, taking orders, and diagnostics.
Talk - convey messages, and instructions, carry discussions.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assumes the responsibility of work assignments under the supervision of the Executive Director of Operations, through the Maintenance Supervisor or designee.
Learn the locations of all related plumbing equipment and how it relates to each school building.
Assumes primary plumbing responsibility for the safe operations, repair, and installation of all related components and equipment related to all school facilities.
Make rounds of all related equipment at each school to identify and repair any potential problems and keep all plumbing systems operational.
Complete and close out Work Orders in the (SchoolDude) and enter time worked and materials used.
Examines and inspects district-owned facilities regularly for preventive maintenance and ensures that all equipment is working as designed.
Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains the inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and supplies.
Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Maintenance and/or Executive Director of Operations.
Is responsible for all assigned equipment and related work tools, any assigned school vehicle and their upkeep, and maintenance daily.
Assumes the responsibility for the opening, closing, and securing of the district's schools and related facilities as needed.
Reports on the quality of supplies and equipment, when inferior, shall report immediately to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsible to obtain any prescribed license/certifications of this position within six (6) months of implementation and /or date of hire.
Once obtained, these licenses/certifications shall be maintained.
Responsible to perform all preventive maintenance tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsible to fill out and maintain logs, maintenance work logs, PM records, etc.
, as directed.
Assumes the responsibility to follow all safety regulations, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and perform all work in an as safe manner as possible.
Perform all related work and all tasks assigned by the Executive Director of Operations, through the Maintenance Supervisor as deemed necessary for the operations of the school district.
This position will require the ability to learn and perform a high level of skills and knowledge in the work area.
The successful candidate must be willing to attend, and complete seminars and other training related to the position.
Probationary Period: 120 working days Shift: Days, Afternoon shifts may be required based on projects.
