Summary: TWB Monroe is seeking a New Product Development Engineering Intern this summer session! Summer internships are expected to take place between May 13 and August 16, 2024.

Selected interns are assigned based on their field of study and interests within our company.

Project(s): Projects are planned based on anticipated departmental needs but may be altered based on business needs or selected intern’s skills or interests.
The intern will focus on validating new heat treat test equipment for TWB Monroe and will develop test procedures.
This will entail reviewing current procedures, performing laboratory tests, and creating video job aids.
Skills developed: deeper knowledge of press hardening steel, laboratory management, data acquisition, detailed observation, communication, problem solving, strategic planning, presenting, documenting, executing, evaluating
Work Environment: Intern should be prepared to spend time working on the plant floor in addition to the office environment.
Appropriate safety training and PPE will be provided.
Basic Qualifications:
Major in Material Science or Metallurgy in an accredited program
Completion of Sophomore Year by summer of 2024
Strong background in Metallurgy
Laboratory experience testing steel products (tensile, metallography)
Proficient in using computers, learning new systems, and critical thinking
Active listener who can receive and follow directions
Punctuality and commitment to doing the job right
Interest in Manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications:
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
Takes initiative and is driven to identify opportunities for improvement
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Willingness to travel to the Worthington Corporate Materials Lab (CML) in Columbus, Ohio and TWB Valley City
