Job Summary The Quality Engineer I is responsible for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of effective systems ensuring Quality Standards meet or exceed internal and customer requirements.
Work is performed in a fast-paced environment within tight time constraints.
Unusual hours and travel may be required.
This is a salaried, exempt position.
Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.
The incumbent may also receive direction from Program Team Essential Functions 1.
Interfaces with the customers (Customer Representative) and suppliers on quality problems and quality improvement activities using structured corrective and preventive action methods 2.
Compiles and administers customer and supplier PPAP documentation 3.
Interfaces with the customer concerning all aspects of APQP (INPro) including PPAP preparation and submittal 4.
Uses INChange (plant portion) for product or process changes 5.
Implements and/or analyzes quality metrics (Customer, Key indicators, etc) and initiates action plans when the metrics do not meet the objectives 6.
Organize and facilitate Corrective Action Activities (8 D, for example) for internal and external quality problems with resolution within the corporate/customer timelines 7.
Analyzes internal metrics (IPPM, capability, etc) and works with engineering, production and maintenance to initiate action plans when the metrics do not meet the objectives 8.
If primary contact for FCA program, may be trained FCA related computer applications as listed in FCA US LLC Customer-Specific Requirements for IATF 16949:2016.
FCA computer applications may not be all inclusive, additional applications may be revised.
If primary contact for Ford program, may be trained in Ford system courses; Covisint (Ford Supplier Portal) Covisint (Ford Supplier) applications may not be all inclusive, additional applications may be revised 9.
Responsible for conformity to product requirements, QE has the authority to stop shipment and stop production 10.
Ensure all shifts are staffed with personnel in charge of (or with delegated responsibility) ensuring conformity to product requirements 11.

Structured problem solving with demonstrated experience in 8-D or similar methods 2.
Knowledge of quality system design and implementation 3.
Knowledge of automotive quality standards, including IATF-16949 4.
Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate complex issues all levels, to management, operators and customers 5.
Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Power Point, Minitab, Access, Visio 6.
Must successfully complete all required training, including but not limited to: Problem solving training and PFMEA training 7.
Must comply with all 5-S standards, work rules, policies and procedures 8.
Must comply with all safety rules and regulations 9.
Authority and responsibility to stop production when a quality or safety issue arises Education and Experience: 1.

degree in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience of education and experience in Quality Engineering 2.
Prefer current ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification 3.
1 to 4 years of Quality Engineering experience in manufacturing Other Requirements: 1.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without the requirement for sponsorship or transfer of Visa now or at any time in the future 2.
Work requires walking, talking, seeing, hearing, sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, grasping, crouching, pushing, balancing, reaching, kneeling and standing 3.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis 4.
